The AYU Emerging Manager Conference landed again in London, March 2023 offering a huge wealth of knowledge and experience from some of the leading minds in the hedge fund industry.

This event was kindly sponsored by our friends at Jersey Finance with networking breaks brought to us by Neovest and gathered together 70 professionals from the hedge fund, family office and allocator network for cap intro and connection.

After some welcome remarks from Elliot Refson of Jersey Finance, we were treated to our first panel discussion, “Seeding in 2023” featuring Chris Elliott of Cowen, Carl Szantyr of Blockstone Capital, Sam Copley of TruVenturo and James Rulli of Old City Capital. Further panels covered; Fundraising and Distribution, and Operational Alpha with contributions from Andrew Frost, Nigel Someck, Sukh Bachal of Neovest and George Ralph of RFA.

A delicious networking lunch was followed by a fireside chat with long-time AYU member and friend Ed Hugo, CEO of Kernow Asset Management on “How we raised $100m as an emerging fund”. This was a fascinating insight into the launch and success of this contrarian fund and its contemporary investment strategy.

The day was wrapped up over cocktails and prize giving by Stuart Macdonald of Aaro Capital, a huge congratulations to our AYU Pitch-off winner Nadine Buckland of Zenzic Capital who delivered an extremely impressive pitch in a closely fought contest!
